Phone came with my x5

My 2001 x5 has Motorola StarTAC phone, I called a few service carriers to get service for this phone but no luck. I'm in the west coast. can you tell me how you service your BMW Motorola phone ?

I don't believe you can any more just because it is an analog phone. We used to have a Merc with that and the only people who serviced it 3 years ago was Bellsouth, now Cingular, but 3 years ago we got 60 min for $50/month plus we had 4 other lines. I doubt you can get service if you don't already have it on the analog system. I believe there are some conversion kits out there so you can use a GSM or CDMA or IDIM phone with it.

Have not heard of StarTac in a loooong time. I guess it was equivalent of Razr at the time of release. FF 5 years and you should get the phone cradle for Razr.

I might have to do that since the original phone can not be activated by any service carrier. BT is way to go these day.

I posted an interesting comparison a while back. Ah, the ol' StarTAC was very cool in its day. Like other fave said, move on to something new.
