Wife wants an X thoughts on this one?

She tested an FX35, but the X creeped on her so now she wants one. I saw this on Ebay. What do you guys think?

Smart woman, your wife. Interesting color combination of that ebay X5. That 4.6 X5 is twice the car that the FX35 is. If you don't get that X5 keep looking. Drive one locally for a side by side comparison, the choice will be clear. Even a 3.0 or 4.4 engine would still be a great ride. Happy hunting!

I've seen one back in winter that color combo and it looks amazing in person. The only problem is the fact the warranty is gone. BMW's could be expensive to fix if you encounter problems.

You could most likely get about $5k knocked off that price for being a car out of warranty and a 5 year old car.

I would also suggest a facelifted 4.4i because it saves gas over the pre facelifted X's. They are going for $40k range. There are a bunch of 2005 3.0i with under 25k miles for just $31k here in Colorado. Great time to buy an X.

I agree with benathon on both above statements. Buy this one only if you get a better price and by an extended warranty for the difference. You do not want to go without a warranty on a 5 years old X.

I trully believe it would be better to look for a face lifted 4.4 instead of this because the newer X's engine saves gas compared to the gas guzzler the 4.6is is. Also you get a facelifted look and a warranty.

Thanks for the replies. My wife doesn't really like the newer look. She thinks the 04+ grill looks like a grinning pirate. I agree with the price haggle of course. I would have a mechanic look at it before even considering making an offer. I think the rarity of the color combination appeals to her more than anything. Yes she drives fast and can out drive most guys so the extra hp is not even a factor here

Nice!
I would also look at some 2004 4.4 that are in that price range.
In 2004 you get the new engine, pano sun roof, bixenon directional head lights, new front end, 6 speed tranny etc.

Check carmax, I'm positive I saw the same color combo on their website this past Monday. At least you have a 5 days money back guarantee with them.

fiveX - i agree with you and your wife, i don't really care for the 04+ look either, but the other benefits that jditom mentioned does make it appealing. and you can modify the looks to something more appealing to you. just a thought.
