Reseting the Service Indicator System
Hello,
I have a 2002 X5 4.4i with 37K. My Service Interval Indicator System is not calling for an Oil Service or Inspection (I have one green light on the indicator and the red clock signal calling for break fluid change). My last oil service was done at 28K 15 months ago).
I must do an oil service (requirements of my extended warranty) this week and I read in my service booklet that I should change the coolant (my car is 4years old), the break fluid (every 2 years plus clock message).
I did with BMW dealer an Oil Services @7500 and 12K, the Inspection 1 @20K, and with an independent agent an Oil Service @28K who reset the Service Indicator.
I drive my X5 daily only on very short distances (6 miles per day) and do some highway once a month.
QUESTION: Do you think that the Service Indicator can be reset by a non BMW dealer, and in addition to Oil Service, coolant and break fluid other things need to be performed like transmission fluid or plugs
Thank you in advance for your help
