No, it doesn't sound normal. You may want to ask your dealer to adjust the shift linkage for you.

Gabriel,
Our X is an '01, with 5 spd manual and reverse is easy to engage. I can sometimes "beat the synchros" in fast upshifting, but never really a problem selecting any gear. Good Luck, mD
