Problem:5 green dots @ inspection & Service light

Anyone here has a problem with 5 green dots@ service light? I have been having problem with these dots are not displaying properly, sometimes, it shows 5 but usually shows only 1 left. After the last oil change I reset my light from pressing on the button and counts until ENd SIA appears. It took me a few tries to get these to turn back to all green. But, last time I took my car to Toledo BMW dealer and try to get the segment digital display fix with missing pixels. They scan my key and see FIVEs green from it, but the car maintaince light indicator does not show FIVEs green, they told me they don't know why.
I took the car back without fixing it since they said they are not familiar to my warranty Company, which covers my car up to 100K. They wants me to pay with the charge and reclaim it's myself with the insurance. I think this is rediculous. I haven't had time to bring it back to Columbus where we bought the car, they said, they will take care of the problem with out charge.
I just curious that anyone here has a same experience as I do.

Thanks in advance,
X5 2003 4.4i Sport Package.

chuby, is there an alternate dealer in your area- maybe in Detroit or Cleveland? Some dealers may resist outside extended warranty comapnies- they can present a problem to the service department, although I had good luck with mine. There were a couple of instances where I had to make up the difference between the dealer pricing and the warranty allowable charges. Also, what was the in-service date for your X and how many miles now?

Dave,

I have about 60K miles now.

Vitriol,

I am in columbus Ohio. What about you? Where are you in OHio?

I had mine car inpection II done last month and the dealer fix that problem. I had one green left on the car. They check my keys, one with 5 green and they other with 1 green. They kept the key with one green while had the car inspected. After inspection, I got all five green, they also ask me when was the last time I had the oil change I told them at 55K miles. Since I my car was only 60K miles there were no need to replace oil again, they reset the service light to 5 green now it's fine.

I'm still curious how did they reset the service light? They must have some kind of tool to do this on the 2003 4.4i model. I don't think pushing the reset switch at reset button that will do the job.

Does anyone in here know what tool they use? Any BMW service people in here?

Thanks in advance,

Chuby
