I bought mine a year ago, '01, 4.4i, white/tan, with NAV/DSP but not the sport package, with 49K miles for $27K. It came with an Extended warranty for 2 years/24K. I left for a two week trip back home and when I came back the warranty "fine print" said that I had 10 days to do the transfer to my name...Needless to say they declined my request...Two months ago I got an SES light, I did everything I could, but I was still getting the light. So I took it in and long story short, the replaced the oil separator, all the manifold intake gaskets, all the vacuum hoses, plus the MAF sensor, bill came to $1.5K
Why am I telling you this? After all that, I lost interest in the car. I tried to sell it on my own, the first day on the market I got really close selling it, I was asking $25K, the guy told me he had to make a decision between the X5 and an 04 Acura MDX CPO with warranty...he went for the MDX. (Don't blame him) I had it on the market for 3 months, at $25K and I got 12 calls from dudes they wanted me to pay $499 to have them but it on EBAY. At the end, I got pissed and I told one guy, "go to bigcharts.com type ebay and give me one reason why I should invest $$ in such a %&*$ up company? Long story short, I paid cash for the truck, I owe nothing on it, but I just don't want to give it away either...prices are soft now, two dealers offered me $22K and $20K when the car appraised at $25-27K. I took it of the market today, I have all the records from the previous guy, plus I know the guy, he's my brother-in-law. I was going to get a new Tacoma Truck, but like I said, people see you selling a sweet ride and they smell blood...I use a tank of gas every two months driving on the fwy and I get 23 mpg. Spending $1.5K with in six months of ownership, it upset me and honestly I lost interest in the car, simple as that. I have 51K miles now and every time I drive it, which isn't very often, I wonder what is it going to be next? I started putting $100 a month in a 5% savings account "just in case"
It is nerve recking trying to sell a car any way you look at it. If it's not the dealer, it's some wise guy trying to get it for nothing. And on top of that gas is $3+ a gallon...Good luck with it, I suggest if you don't want to get upset with people's responses, just set the price and don't even ask around what they think...it's you and the market, and the market don't care who you are, or what you do. It will do it's own thing, we all are along for the ride.
The funny thing is that had I left the $27K in that stock, today it would have been $500K with full margin...so don't feel bad!
