Taillight replacement...got part...any advice?

title says it all, my connections for my taillights are corroded and don't connect, so i got the new clear ones, i have a 01 x5 3.0 and no clue where to start, my trucks at BMW right now dealing with a blow transmission and driveshaft as well as anything else it could reach went it bent out... they just did new cv's, axles and one wishbone (which they broke) next day it just crapped, driveshaft popped out and banged all kinds of good stuff, I really hope they don't try to make me pay, its there fault right?? i find out tommorow, errr.
