Caliper Paint

Has anyone tried the brake caliper paint from the Eastwood Company or any other supplier? It’s a two part self-leveling brush on.

Although the calipers on my X are clean, over time the surface has become rusty and don’t look very good. I was thinking the black paint would just make them fade away.

Caliper Paint

I have used G2 from ipdusa.com before. It works fine. It goes on thick but does self level. Without removing the caliper you can not get to all spots but the ones you can get to are the parts that show anyway. Stay away from the brake pad and rotor of course.

After four years it still looks fine but besides looking better it tends to smooth out the caliper surface and so it cleans up better. There sure is no rust there.

Have the car on jacks and all wheels off as you only have 30-40 minutes or so before it starts to set up. It is enough time but not if you stop to remove each wheel.

I would use it again. I went with silver but red and black are options.

i have friends that tried the G2 system and they seem to be happy with it. Its one of the more popular brands out there.

what i do for myself is to get some black or silver high temp automotive spray paint. it's a much thinner coat and doesn't look like a heavy hand painted coat epoxy stuff. however, the spray paint isn't meant to last up against brake cleaner or brake fluid like the epoxy is... i know dave zeckhausen uses spray paint here and there also...

I spray painted mine with the high temp stuff from Auto Zone...no problems what so ever...I just applied a few coats, I would also clear coat it next time I do it for some extra shine!

Caliper Paint

I have done both the engine type paint and the epoxy caliper paint. I know there is a cost difference but go with the epoxy as the smoother surface it leaves afterwords really helps with cleaning off brake dust.

Did you remove your calipers or paint them in place?

I left them on. You can reach what is seen with the supplied brush and I figure if you can not see it who cares. If I recall the direction suggest keeping them on.
