X5 3.0d Auxiliary heating remote
Bought a used X5 last week having option 536 (Auxiliary heating/ventilation).
Switching it on using Direct Mode on the 16:9 display works fine. However, unable to switch it on using the included remote control (Webasto T70 according to the battery cover). Is there a receiver module somewhere in the car? If so, where! It would help me a lot if I could locate it. Called a couple of dealers here in The Netherlands but they didn't know. It's not really a common option for the Dutch.... |

What happens when you press the button on the remote control, do any lights come on (remote control battery check). When you use the remote to put on the heating, the little red fan under the nav screen should come on.
I'm sorry I don't know where the reciever module is but it might just be that your remote control is set to ventilate not heat. If so, the dealer has to re-programme the remote control.

When I press the ON button for 1 sec the led shows green first and 2 secs later it will blink red until I press the OFF button for 1 sec again.
The "red fan" comes on when using the direct mode only. Thanks Ajogu. |

Called a dealer in Germany who told me that the receiver would be in the trunk, next to the battery below the spare wheel.
Disconnected this T70 type receiver, waited for 20 seconds, reconnected the module and immediately pressed the OFF button for 5 seconds. This procedure is described in the X5 user manual in case you add another remote control. Now the remote works fine! The manual was talking about the "Standheizung" fuse in the trunk but I could only find this fuse in the glove compartment. After the "repair" I removed all the circuit breaker from the fusebox in the cargo area while checking the power supply to the T70 receiver and sure enough, the last but one was the one they referred to in the manual as being the Standheizung fuse. It was called Fernbedienung (remote control)..... The one in the glove compartment is probably just for the auxiliary heater itself. Thanks again! |

Isn't the automatic climate control supposed to switch on when you switch on the Auxiliary heater with the remote (mine does not..)?
Do you have to setup the automatic climate control somehow to have the windows defrosted using the Auxiliary heater? I mean, would it use your last settings or a kind of default setting. According to the T70 datasheet it should be possible to use the remote for ventilation as well. You know how to do that? |

The temperature settings do not matter, In my experience I have noticed it is best to roll the dial to 3 red dots onthe dash board. That way, when you put on the heating approx 10 mins earlier and you get into a nice warm, cosy defrosted car. Great feature It is also possible to ventilate but you have to reprograme the remote at the dealer during summer. A waste of time imo. Check this thread out for more info http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...ht=aux+heating

Djen dobre.
Will have a look at that thread, thanks. Read the Webasto T70 user manual where a simple procedure was explained how to change the remote's function. As there is only 1 wire out of the receiver which changes from 0V to 12V when switching on the Webasto I can imagine that a reprogramming in the car would be required indeed. Dziekuje! |
