D'oh Didn't read the manual

Just took a 400km trip up north to see my family as they were staying with rellie's while we rebuild the house....

Driving along and I happened to have my headlights on the 'auto' setting... Once it got dark I thought I was seeing things, the lights were going all weird when I went around corners.....

AAAhhhh, A on the emblem means ADAPTIVE not AUTO!! Had this thing for a year and didn't realise I had these turning headllights.... FREAKY!!

Next time, I WILLLLLLL read the manual!

PS. Overtakling was GREAT!!! pulled out and floored it then had to brake because I was doing 180kph rrreeeaaallll quick (still detonating but that's another story).

Wonder if I have that too? Need to check that out. Why read the manual, isn't that what X5World is for.

I meant finding out something new just like this with the adaptive headlights. Reading it. I didn't mean questions like "What's this button do?". We'd get a too, excpet we'd have a after it.

You should have that feature too since you have a 2005 model. Adaptive HID was introduce mid cycle of 2004...starting with April 2004 production. I'm still mad at BMW for doing this mid-cycle change crap as I just missed this feature along with the panoramic roof by a whopping 2 months!

Actually, "A" does mean Auto (meaning they come on automatically in the low light). Per the 2005 Owner's Manual
Quote:
When you set the switch to this position, the system activates and switches on and off the low beams in response to changes in ambient light conditions, for instance, in tunnels, at dawn and dusk, and in rain and snow
I believe, however, that the Adaptive component is not activated unless in that Auto position. So, you are actually right, anyway!

Now that's silly, isn't it. Is there a reason why someone wouldn't want that feature activated?

Damn, I have adaptive headlights. Go figure, a year and a half later and my girl is still surprising me. They're cool. Took a twistie instead of the expressway tonight to check them out.

BTW - is it possible she's getting faster or is she just getting used to me driving her like I stole her? Just turned 23K miles and she seems to be a beast lately. Very responsive.

(OK, I'll take the bait) Don't most women get more responsive with time?
