Anyway to tell if battery was replaced?

The previous owner of my car was the original owner and bit of a maintenance freak. I am wondering if the battery is original or maybe he has it replaced at the stealer. Any date code I can look at before O plunk down 140 for a duralast? I just had the alternator replaced so thinking of replacing new bat since the car is a '03.

there should be a date code on it, but I would just drive it until the very first sign of failure. If it makes it through the first cold snap, you will probably be ok for the winter.

the battery performance degrades very quickly as the temperature drops if it is in poor condition (well even if it is in good condition, but it will still work well enough not to be an issue).

My '01 oe batt had part number(s), mfg'd by, etc., but no dating.
It did have a stamped code on the top middle plastic triangle area
but I could not decipher the code. Dunno if yours may differ, looks-wise.

I would at least "look" at your batt., and if it looks like the white oe,
I might consider a replacement; there are several sources, other than
dlr, and considerably less expensive and, it's an easy DIY.

I just got back from autozone with my new Duralast. I have the old one out of the truck already, it's white OE BMW, probably original. The eye glass indicator seems black, I dont see any green. Car started fine etc, I just figured 6 years old, I dont want to strain my new alternator, I just installed SUB and AMP and I plan on using this truck for snowboarding up north quite a bit so.... I dont see any codes on the battery that look like any kind of date code.
