Thanks X5world

Thanks to all the topics on water pumps I knew that my 4.4 water pump would fail at around 60K miles. Sure enough, at 65K I started to notice the smallest puddles of coolant in my garage. I had the water pump replaced under CPO along with the belts and coolant flush. Had I not been forewarned, this could have caused problems or damage.

The big question is; is the replacement water pump "improved", or do I need to start looking again at 120K miles?

That sucks that it happened but at least is was during your CPO warranty. If mine goes as yours does, I'll be glad that I have the BMW extended warranty. As for the part, I think this might be the one that is new and improved but I might be wrong. I thought there was a thread about.

Hey, are you coming to WestFest IV in SoCal? There is a caravan of NorCal people driving down. Check the link in my sig for more info on the event.

For general water pump woes, check this out

Also, most people I know are replacing their pumps with the stewart pump (an improved pump)....http://www.stewartcomponents.net/Mer...y_Code=BMWHPWP

Gosh, Darn, Dickens! I did not know about the Stewart pump - I had mine replaced last April (61K) as preventative maintenance, since I tend to take long trips (at high speed) to Vegas, Reno, Seattle, and No CA. My belief is that it's cheaper to repair in the shop than out on the road.
