whats this plug go to?

this plug is wire tied in the compartment that my cd changer is in, would this be what would plug into the nave unit? I dont have nav currently so i guess my ? is is it all plug and play if you buy the screen and the CPU or do you have to buy a harness as well?

No this plug is not for the NAV computer; It's for the TCU - BMW phone. Looking at this harness, I'm guessing your X5 is 2001 or 2002. The newer X5's have the bluetooth connector instead of this one. You can still install a retrofit adapter if you choose to install BT.

As for navigation, it's hardly plug and play! Take a look at Joe Puma's retrofit the articles section. Just might be enough to scare that thought away...
