Is there supposed to be a cover over the square hole in the right front wheel well?

I noticed the other day that there is a square hole in the RIGHT front wheel well WITHOUT a cover, but there is a cover over the same hole in the LEFT front wheel well. Should the hole in the RIGHT front wheel well have a cover as well, and would my driving without a cover have harmed anything? Thanks for the help, you all have been great so far.

You would actually want the other side opened up as well since they cool your brakes...

That's a great idea. I never even thought about it. I just went out and peek at it and there is a direct vent path from the front bumper to that covered hole!

Just curious...why did it comes covered up stock?

I was swapping my rims and painting my calipers on time and I saw the same covers...I just ripped them right out assuming they were brake ducts...I don't know why BMW would have them there and cover them up....if you shine a light you could see they run to the front of the bumper!

US spec. vehicles have the ducts blocked apparently to prevent lawsuits for rotor warpage. At least that's what the scuttlebut said last year when this debate was active.
