3.0i Engine Mods?

I'm looking for simple engine mods to get some more HP out of my 2006 3.0i, nothing too expensive and tough to install (since i plan to do this myself) thanks in advance guys.

I'm not aware of any that actually work

There are not that many engine mods that you can get for the 3.0i, however did you look at Dinan? Dinan is expensive, however once in a while they do promos where you can get some products for half off. I had the engine software upgrade and the auto tranny upgrade, and i just ordered the K & N air filter replacement, which supposedly adds 4 hp and 5 lbs of torque, because it lets in more air.

Have Dinan engine software A/T upgrade and HP Stage I upgrade. Awesome really make driving smoother and somewhat faster although no HP change I am told. To do so you need to go up to the S kit for the X5 or supercharge it...which you just as well could buy an X5 4.4 for the price I have heard.

On the Dinan site, they list the the K&N air filter and the engine software upgrade will create +4 hp and +5 ft lb of torque.

I did the Dinan Stage 1 Engine software and the Stage 1 Transmission software 1 year ago and love it. It's not a huge difference, but it's enough to tell there's something there.........I also did the K&N air filter about 7 months ago.
I highly recommend the DINAN upgrades.....plus it's still covered with the warranty.
It takes about 3 minutes each to download into your computer.........They just ran a 1/2 off deal last month too.
I found out too late - I was going to get the Dinan throttle body added!!! It would've been a good deal at 1/2 off.

How did it affect your mpg?

It's actually supposed to help the mpg, but in reality, I haven't noticed any difference. It seems a little better, but I never keep track of it. I only drive it when the weather is nice and have only put 7,500 miles on it in 13 1/2 months...........
