Tire / from Hawaii

Aloha guys and wahines ( girls ) ,

I just traded in my 02 325Ci for an '04 X5 4.8is . Wow , its twice the car
and twice the payment .lol .

after bringing the SAV home I noticed the rear tires had cord showing
on the inner edges . I brought this to the sales depts attention
and the put 2 new tires on but said I would be responsible for paying for
an alignment if I choose .

After searching this site it sounds that this is a normal thing . But i only have
24k miles on the odometer.

GUys my questiopn is will I be buying new tires very 24k miles .
I have an appointment for an alignment at BMW Honolulu. Will I be wasting
my time and money ?

I have the 20" rims with the big "D's" on the back and they're not cheap .

Congratulations on your purchase!! I have a 4.6is with only 15,000miles and the tyres are still in great condition! My dad also has a 4.6is with 40,000miles and he changed his first set at 27,000miles but drives real sensible. I think everyone will have a different opinion on the miles they get out of a set of tyres on the 4.6/4.8is. It will also be down to driving style, tyre choice etc. On the alignment issue, the dealer from where you purchased your 4.8 should also be standing over this as, they replaced the tyres and usually included is wheel balancing and alignment!!
