CD Changer or iPod

Hi,
I have just bought a 2001 X5 4.4 Sport. Love it! But CD changer in back is getting the "No disc" msg all of the time. So thought about replacing it.

Should I go for :
OEM replacement
Other CD changer eg Sony CDX-T69, Alpine etc
Slam an iPod adaptor in it and bin the CDs

Anyone got advice on this ?

Thanks

01 does not have an AUX connection on the radio for the iPod. There are other solutions, but that is something to think about.

This is a no brainer. Dump the CD Changer and go with an iPod interface.

AlecShort - definitely the IPOD! I just purchased an '01 3.0i last week and got the iTrip temporarily. After I left the mall, went back around and returned it. When I got home, my brother told me that there was a plug (male to male) below the lighter in the ashtray. So I just bought the appropriate cable from radio shack and it works fine for me!

Hey folks!
Thanks for all the really prompt replies. I think it is the iPod option then. I will have a look around for products that will work with the UK X5 and let you know how it goes.

Thanks again.
