Headlight Question / Anyone have any clear headlight turn indicators?

Hello,

I currently own a 2002 X5 with Xenon lights. I'm trying to upgrade all the lights to the clear sport look and had a few questions.

1) Is it possible to obtain just the clear portions of the turn indicators on the front headlights? That way I can just open mine up and replace that part without having to purchase new headlights. I would be interested in purchasing these off anyone who has taken them out.

2) Is it possible to upgrade to 2004 lights? I know the pattern is different, just wondering if there was a way without updating the bumper etc..

I've purchased the clear side markets/ rear tail lights and now am stuck on the headlights. I appreciate all help given to me, thank you.

JD

1. No, you need to open the lights and Dremel the innards. Do a search, a lot of people have done this.
2. Yes, as long as you don't mind changing the front end of the vehicle. Lots of cash required and lots of little problems to be overcome. Again, do a search as at least a couple of board members have done this.

2004 lights can be done. But it would take some careful modifications. If you dont change the wings then you need to modify your original wings to suit the headlights. I'm not sure about the bonnet? I know the 2004 bonnet is slightly different but again with a good bodyshop the old bonnet can be modified to suit. Wiring would be a main issue but not impossible. Have a look at my old e39 540I that I spent alot of money on modifing. I modified the bonnet, bumpers, doors and much more.

Thanks for the reply. I don't want to just take out the amber turn indicators, I want to add the clear piece if possible. I'm assuming that is going to be very challenging to find so I'm also in the market for a pair of sport xenon (clear turn indicators) headlights.

Thanks.

Thanks Sudesh, looks nice! I'm going to just update the 2002 headlights with the sport clear indicators, now its a question of finding the headlights at a decent price.

You can buy the clear pieces from BMW. But again you will need to bake the headlights to remove the the lenses the take out the orange and add the clear. But it be wont be comletly clear as you will still have a small bit or orange inside unless you dremel it out.

I didn't realize BMW sold just the clear pieces that fit inside of the headlights. Thanks for the tip, I'll go down there tomorrow and order them.

Yeah you could get them. Let me see if I can find the part number. Only thing is the headlights, might have to have been ordered from new.
