If your X5 is a 2001, then you can not get the BMW ipod kit. It is only for cars manufactureed after 10/02. I would recommend a DICE ipod integration kit. You will get ID3 text, and controls from your radio and steering wheel.

Yes you can! Here's the kit you need:

This will allow for iPod integration, text display and charging of your iPod through the dock connector.

DSP-equipped vehicles will need the DSP converter, let me know what you have and I'll get you the kit you need.

The features are iPod specific, but there is an AUX port for other devices. The AUX port will not provide text display and steering wheel control like the iPod does.
