replacing 4:3 screen
Great forum. I have a X5 4.4i 2001 model with the 4:3 screen. The GPS,tv,etc work fine but the screen itself has a heap of surface scratches on it which makes it difficult to see at times, especially during the day with full sun. At night it is fine and not noticable. Can you just get a replacement screen or do you have to order whole unit? Also where can i order a new screen from? Should i go the whole way and replace it with the 16:9 version? There are various threads on how to do this but i can't seem to find any units in australia. any help would be appreciated thanks. I don't believe new 4:3 units are available any longer. BMW replaces defective units with 16:9 ones, as necessary.
I'd keep an eye on eBay for sellers that ship internationally.

Cheap Fix (kinda)
I had some scratches/smears that I could not remove on my 4:3 screen. I had pretty good sucess by placing a PDA screen protection film on the screen. It's anti-glare and hides most of the imperfections I have. It's also very cheap. Check it out, under $20 US.
