that, i don't know. i haven't checked into it yet,
but while i was having service done last week, the SA did bring up the fact that i might want to check into purchasing one. if i can't get BMW's warranty, i'm pretty sure i can go w/ someone else. others on here will be able to tell u more. u might want to do a search. there is a lot of info about warranties here.

hey gotabyte...
i myself got a 2003 X5 and i'm the second owner. when i got the X5 it still had 22,000 miles on it so it still has the original warranty but most people here in LA do drive alot so I got the extended warranty as well. that's just to give you peace of mind just in case of an unexpected problem arising and you don't have to cough up thousands of dollars to get the car fixed, if you know what i mean. good luck! |

Gotabyte:
Be aware that there are 2 distinctly different offerings: -Extended Warranty -Extended Maintenance The Ext Warr., is "CPO"-like in coverage, from memory, and fairly pricey...you should shop around as I believe you can buy it from any BMW dlr. The Extended Maintenance program is seperate from and independent of any any ext. warranty: it covers brakes, oil changes, inspections, most wear items, etc. That too, can be shopped, as the stlrs really try to make a buck on it, but prices can vary. The only other avenue for extending a warr., is a "3rd party" program: some BMW dlrs still offer them or, you could shop WarrantyDirect on the net. Most ext. warranties require you to be "signed up" before your exisiting original warr. expries. GL,mD

Advice from MD hits the nail on the head.
FYI, my last trip to the stealership would have been almost $4K without (original) warranty coverage. |
