Radio Replacement

OK guys...I need some help. My radio module died on my 2002 X5. It was an upgraded module I bought 1.5 years ago(02/2005 module). I plugged in the original 2002 module and the radio works but of course...I have no sirius due to the original radio not supporting it. What is the latest part number I can use on my 2002 X5? I'm taking it to the dealer to see if they will replace it...but I'm afraid they will just replace it with a 2002 model.

Your BMW parts carry a 2 year warranty - I wouldn't worry about it. Normally, they will replace with the newer model that is compatible for AUX and Sirius.

I bought a new radio before I read the one reply. It looks like you were right!!! I should be able to go to my dealer tomorrow and get the radio and my sirius unit replaced under the 24 month warranty. I should be back listening to my satellite radio soon enough!!!

OK I spent over 5 hours at the dealer today....they said they cannot replace the radio with a service call. I showed them the failed unit...they agreed to use the new unit I purchased and refund me the purchase price...but then they tried to get the Sirius working(the new radio wasn't coded for sirius)..they backed off everything and said it must be because of the EURO tv module for the failure(guessing of course) and then said they wouldn't replace the radio module. I'm now stuck with a new radio I purchased ~$500...not coded for sirius and a lemon radio which the dealer I went to will not warranty(may try another dealer).....any suggestions...

Radios are not coded for Sirius. There is an area mode that was not likely set to USA mode so Sirius could be recognized. Install the radio and contact me directly - we'll run over some procedures to get you up and running over the phone.
