i have a very very very slight sound coming from the door or the front left of the dash. but when i brought it to the dealer, all they told me was don't mind it because if they remove all the panels and put it back together, the rattle that i complained about might disappear but a new one might arise

What do you have in the door pocket?

i took everything out of the pocket...and it still does it. this noise is not just a little rattle, its pretty freakin loud and very annoying, sometimes a try to smack it with the side of my left leg but still doesnt go away, a few times i have opened the door and closed it shut again, and it goes away sometimes after that...well anyways, i did have my speakers upgraded, so it might be the way the door panel was reinstalled...idk, if its not an "important" problem, no sweat on it.

It's not too hard to remove the door panel. I would pull it and see what's going on. It may be that your speaker is not mounted properly. Could become an expensive paper weight.

If as you said there have been new speakers installed then it's pretty clear that something is just loose enough to rattle with the engine vibration (trans load at low revs) going through the car.

Take the cover off and have a look, you never know, you might find the installers' screwdriver!!!

On the home page, in the interior section, there is a link to "door panel removal and regulator replacement." After you follow the instructions for removing the door panel . . .stop. Look around in the door. Installation is the same in reverse.

I had a rattle when I first got my X5 and the dealer said it was a loose wire, probably for the window motor. It was a warrantly job but as I remember the only part on the invoice was a zip tie.
