listening device

My fathers friend is diplomatic person in our country and he has got MB s600 '05. Once i was in car with his driver and he showed me one unique function: we could hear at one chanel on the cd receiver(stock) what were talkin people about 40 meters straight ahead of us...i asked him where did he bought this and he said it was from factory...

i want to put listen device in my x5 and hear what are my friends talking about...
i know how to connect this device to car(i can connect it through fm transmitter on frequency 89.3 or smth like this). All listening devices that i found in internet are toys and not waterproof and not suitable for cars...

does anybody know where buy this kit?

Just to clarify, the car he was "listening to" was actually a friend of his, right? Someone that would have purposely opened a communication channel in his own car? MB isn't going to start breaching all sorts of privacy laws.

Sounds to me like an integrated walkie-talkie that you don't need to press a button to talk on so more like a full duplex like a speakerphone. Maybe you can get a set of handhelds with AC adapters for $100. At least then you can listen to your stereo when no one is talking.

yeah but i dont think it's waterproof.
they write:'10" microphone actually is two microphones in one. One high power microphone element faces forward to capture sounds that are "aimed" at.'
so i think microphone is most expensive thing in this device. And if it will be rainy it will brake...
