Radio wiring access

I have a 2001 with no DSP or NAV. I need to plug the phone cable into the back of the radio to turn on the phone speaker. The Torx screw under the volume knob to remove the radio is stripped. Is there another way to gain access to the wiring on the back of the radio? Maybe through the glove box? Help!

Stripped? If you are referring to the fact that it turns freely, mine does that too. All you have to do is rotate it a little bit and pull. Kind of a release latch type thing. Hopefully yours isn't really ruind. GL

Yea its pretty common for this to happen. My best advice is to get a small set of regular screw drivers and try to get one that will fit. If it truly is rounded out, you'll could try getting and EZ-OUT (thats what they call them) to tap it out.

there's no other access to the radio.
go to sears and ask for the "screw out" set
http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...154000&tab=ser
follow the instructions and you'll be able to remove the torx screw

When I look down in the slot all I see is a hole. The is a small piece of metal that looks like a lcamp that is loose and moving around. The head unit is tight in place. Once I get it out what will I need to replace?
