2004 - 2006 X5 4.8is... differences?

Are there any differences/ major fixes between the "first year" 4.8is and the latest and greatest 2006 4.8is?

I looked at the product guide and did not see anything in regards to the 4.8 vehicles or price lists for the differences.

I am planning on going to take a look at a 2004 4.8is on Friday and I want to be sure I don't screw myself with a "first year" 4.8is vs a later model.

Thanks

Curtis

Very minor changes. The 4.8is produced before August 2004 had a DME recall. 2005 had bluetooth combo BMW assist module as std.

So if it is a 2004, I will possible NOT have bluetooth? Is that correct? Can I add bluetooth at my dealer or am I on my own?

Is there something I can look for in the car to check for bluetooth?

Will the 2004 have BMW assist? Or is that something I have to add as well?

I think the new 2007 V8 X5 is a better buy

I also believe the suspension and transmission were given a different program

The thread is about differences between 2004-2006 E53 X5, not difference between E53 and E70 X5.

Is that a "better" suspension and transmission program? Can the 2004 receive the program from the 2005 or even the 2006?

What was different about the program?

Thanks.

Thats true but I think that someone looking to but a E53 4.8 may be better off buying the E70. From what I read the E70 has better performance and cost less.
