Exclamation URGENT!! One more question for "Disconnecting battery"

Hello,

I'll be away for 50 days so I'm going to disconnect my battery when I leave.
if I reconnect the battery when I come back, should I need to get recoded by dealer?
cuz I remember when I had a dead battery and after jump start, I got all warning lights on and had to bring it to dealer to reset all warnings.
and also should I disconnect both -/+ cables or just negative cable?

Any tips would be much appreciated

All the "Warning Lights" are reset by turning the steering from lock to lock after you reconnect.

Zulu95, Thanks for reply,

and sorry for my ignorance, but what's "lock to lock"?

so should I disconnect both cables? or just negative one will be fine?

Steering wheel turned fully in each direction.

Disconnecting one cable has exactly the same effect as disconnecting both.

Not sure why you would disconnect the battery though. It is better for the battery to be kept in a charged state; if you think that the vehicle will flatten the battery then buy a small battery conditioner and plug it in. I used one through the winter with a previous vehicle, it supplied a very small trickle charge. BMW sells a similar device, it isn't expensive.

You should get the BMW battery charger instead of unplugging the battery. Your battery will be fully charged when you return and no need to open under the trunk.
