BMW Performance Center in Spartanburg

I am thinking of taking delivery at the performance center in Spartenburg sometime this summer (i'll probably order the car by the end of may). Has anybody done it? is it really good? Also when you take delivery at the center, does your dealer waive the destination charges? How long does it take from ordering to taking delivery at the center(4.4)?

Thank you.

p.s. : this forum is great by the way...

Performance Ctr Delivery is awesome. I picked up my '04 M3 there. It was a great day. They really treat you right.

No, they don't waive the destination charge -- you still have to pay it.

Why would anyone pay a 'destination' charge to go pick up a vehicle? I'm no lawyer, but I do share a bed with one, and we stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night, and that seems ridiculous. You gotta put your foot down, or in a salesman's ass, and just say no to paying that if you pick it up in SC.

There's nothing you can do about it unfortunately. They would say the $595 (or whatever they charge now) covers prep and delivery of the vehicle, lunch, a drive over the obstacle course and road course at the performance center, etc etc.

yes, that's my understanding (did some more reading about it yesterday), you destination charge pays for the hotel, meals, driving school, etc....

Yes, I did it last year when picking up our M3. It is worth it. Great place.

If you fly in there, they pick up in the airport in a BMW. Dinner at the local Marriot and one night stay for free at the Marriot paid by BMW NA.

For the X5, they will take you to do an "off-road" driving course on BMW's X5 (not yours). Then you get access to their museum for free and awesome tour of the X5/Z4 factory. Serve you lunch and they'll probably give a ride in their M3 on a track.

When we picked up our M3, they gave us their M3 to drive on a track for beginner's course and the skidpad.

It is beautiful this time of year, though it rains alot.

At the end, you get to pick up your car in a room with all windows and then the rep goes over everything in your car and then you drive off in the sunset!

While there, I would visit Asheville, NC and see the Biltmore Estates. It is about 1 hour north of the factory.

Just tell your dealer you want to do it. You still pay the destination charge (which probably pays for the hotel/driving school/tour) but worth it. You can bring 1 guest.

DO IT!

P.S. Later tonight, I'll post pics from the M3 PDC delivery experience.

Performance Center Delivery

I am brand new to this board and just finished scanning all 19 pagesand found this topic.

I picked up my new X5 4.4i last Wednesday and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. My 25 yr old son accompanied me and is still talking about it. From the pickup at the airport to dinner and first rate accommodations at the Greenville Marriott to the full treatment at the Performance Center (driving the test track in another X5 (slalom and braking course) and the off-road track) to the best delivery processing I've experienced in 40 years. After lunch, we went on the factory tour, watching X5s and Z4s being built. A very impressive QA program ensures each vehicle is assembled to BMW specs. Well worth paying the "Delivery Charge" since they do deliver the vehicle ! ! !

destination charge

i am picking up a new vehicle in Munich next month so I assumed that there was no destination charge-Wrong. It seems if you are picking up a car at a destination, there is a charge. Now if you weren't picking up a car at a destination there would possibly be no charge.
