what would you do, with the intro of the new X5 our X5's are taking an hit out there
My X is extremely clean but this is the number I'm getting from many dealers. I was thinking of going to a CPO Porsche Cayenne S with everything, I know its a step down but I don't want to lose much more on my X. What are you all planning on doing? If the Porsche dealer gives me the price I want on the Cayenne I may have to do it. Like to see what you all think. |

I agree with Derek, why get rid of the X? Did you see the drop in the MB posted on the board for sale? Cars aren't investments...they drop value like a rock off a cliff. I wouldn't go to a Porsche Pepper either....they fall quicker then the X. I have a Porsche dealer up the way letting two 2004 Porsche Pepper S's go for 41K each, with only 30K on them.

Yep, Im keeping my 06 for a long time to and dont give a crap about resale. The reason why i got an 06 was specifically because i was gonna keep it for a while. I figured the last year is most reliable. And seeing the pricing on the new X5 im really happy i got an 06.

I've got an 05 and the way I fugure it is when the 07's come out it's gonna depend on how many people want to pay $70k or more for a new one versus a prime used one. That's when the E53's may garner a bit more money on the market. I'm just guessing though. Either way I believe i'm gonna get both extended warranty's because i plan on keeping it.

I hear you all I guess I got a bit freaked out because the last repair on the car was about $4k, luckily the car was still under warranty. I like switching cars a lot so that's my main reason for getting out of this one, maybe I should look at a CPO 4.8 instead. I do however like the P-car as well.

I hear you on the hit these are taking. We, (well, she) decided last night that we're going with our original plan before I picked up the X. I will be fulfilling my dream of getting back into a 3er and she will be getting her full soccer mom status with a Honda Odyssey.
Its so funny, this time last year, I toyed with the idea of selling the X, put it on the market for 34,500 and got all kinds of hits. Now, its on the block for 32 and I dont even get a glance! Mind you it is pretty stripped, but last year nobody cared. I did the same thing right before the e90's came out, and made a grip on my e46. I was a bit late this time around..

Depreciation is a relatively fixed calculation, it fluxgates a little, but there is a lot of data to support the speed at which specific models lose value. Specifically the highest optioned cars will see the hardest depreciation due to the premium the owner paid at the time of purchase,
If you are concerned about the value of your vehicle the best thing to do is take a lease, it will guarantee a given value at the end of the term. I agree with the previous posts, transportation is not an investment, it’s more like a utility. |
