03 Xenon HDLTS

Installed a pair of 03s on my 00 X and saw that with my headlts on, they didn't shine evenly. Checked my installation and discovered the passenger side lights inside the shell moves. Anyway to secure it?

I have an 03 and my HL are uneven also. The passenger side HL is higher you can actually see the difference if you are on a road with no street lights. I adjusted mine because dealer could not do it right. I think the are designed so that on low beam you get more light to that side of the road and not blind the on coming driver.

Do you have the self leveling motor in the passenger side headlight or did someone remove/break it?

As far as I know every thing is factory and working. My lights self level ever time I turn them on.

I did an overnight test drive of an 03 4.4i lastnight. Did not have Xenon lights though, just halogens; however, I noticed the same thing with the passenger side beam projecting light at higher horizon levels than the drivers side. I'm likely buying the vehicle I had over night on Monday and am curious about this. I asked them to check it out while performing the CPO inspection.

I really want to change the halogens out for Xenons. Is there a DIY plug and play type of install or is it more work?

Also, does the halogens have self-leveling adjusters? If so, any way to tell if equipped?

The auto-leveling feature functions off of the manual adjustments. For example, if you set the headlights to a certain height, the auto-leveling sees that as neutral/on flat road.

...get what I mean?

it isn't a plug and play, but it can be a DYI. there's was a thread earlier that talked about it.
