Power Mirror Question

Just picked up an '04 X5 4.4 and love it! There is a button next to the power window controls that cause the side mirrors to collapse in but not stay in place. As soon as they flap in, they open back up. Aren't they supposed to stay in? I don't see anyother purpose for it.

Hi and welcome! Love the Avatar by the way. On the mirror issue, yes they are supposed to stay in when the button is pressed. Maybe there is some dirty build up causing the mirror to think there is some pressure on the fold so it reverts to open again. Similar to the windows, if you close the window on the x and it feels abnormal pressure it will open again itself.

Yes that button folds the mirror flat. You need to keep it pressed

When I keep my button pressed it stills folds back. I have the same problem. Will have the dealer fix it.

I dont have to keep the button pressed for my mirrors to fold! Just one touch and mirrors fold in and stay in.

BMW has a service bulletin out on the folding mirrors. I had the same problem on my 2004 and they (stealer) replaced both mirrors with brand news to resolve it.
