AUX Input - Questions (quality - mp3 player)

Will I notice a drop in quality if I start to use an Aux Input for my music?

Also, do I have to use an IPOD to get it to work properly with car? I want the song titles to display on the CD headunut (non-nav).

I have like 500 CDs and it is getting kind of annoying switching them out.

Can I switch songs via steering wheel if I connect something to AUX? I am assuming no.

I installed the Dennison ice link to my X5 and love it. I have an X5 (non-nav and non-DSP). I'll say right up front that the Dennison uses the same input as the CD changer, so in other words, you can't use both...one or the other. No issue for me since I don't have and don't want a changer. The Denison is designed for iPod and will charge your iPod at the same time (which is good as the iPod batteries are terrible anyway. To answer your questions, the Dennison allows me to see song titles on the info display of my stereo (and on the info board on your guage cluster). Of course, your tags need to be organized and correct. Also, you can organize your music into folders and that works through the stereo and finally, yes, stereo controls work just fine although I am not positive about the BMW version. I noticed no audio degredation depending of course in the quality of your MP3 files. I stayed away from the BMW version as it didn't charge and I was told it didn't support the same level of info display as the Dennison. There are mounting options, but I ran the connector into the glove box as I prefer a clean look.

No and you will no see the music title either via the AUX input. The AUX input carries only audio and nothing else. The steering wheel volume controls should work though.

Also, the iPod will sound better going through the dock connector (low level) rather than the headphone jack through AUX.

Add in steering wheel control and text display and you have the DICE kit:
