Going with the Flow: First mod in a while

Well, following Sudesh's example, I'm getting straight pipes installed into my X. It is in the shop right now getting the straight pipes put on. There was a local shop in my area that specializes in mufflers and exhausts so I took advantage of it today after finals...No more damn tests until I head to law or business school. FINALLY A COLLEGE GRAD!!! What better way to celebrate than drinking and a new mod to my baby?

Just got my X5 back, it sounds great! I don't want to stop driving it. Although the guy told me removing the resonator will give the engine around a 5-6 HP jump. Does anyone know if that's true or not?

I don't know if it's actually 5-6HP, but removing anything that causes back pressure like the resonator or cats will result in a bit more power.

Few questions. How much did it cost you?

Does a resonator delete affect your emissions?

Does it avoid warranty?

Also, have any 3.0i's done this mod, and if so what are your thoughts and opinions??

Thanks

I have the same mod, mine cost $75 I believe, no it does not affect your emissions and most 4.6s are already out of warranty...so dunno.

My 4.6is isn't out of warranty yet, I've kept it under mileage for a while. But it doesn't affect the emissions or the warranty since there isn't a sensor around that area. Mine was $80 for the entire thing. The guy didn't charge me to remove the resonator, just for parts and labor. But I can tell you that it sounds incredible. I'm sure someone out there has done this to a 3.0, I guess we'll wait to see.

I went with an xpipe instead of straight pipes because i already have remus exhaust.
Mines is a 3.0 and i dont think it could sound better.
I posted sound clips a while ago.
Definetly the best bang for the buck.

I took my resonator out on my 3.0, and I have the SS exhaust...I absolutely love it...now i always drive in steptronic to keep the revs up to hear it burble!

Thanks for all the feedback on my questions. I think that I will do this mod also.

Anyone in the Las Vegas area that could recommend a shop??
