Rattling sound in gas tank thingie?

Whenever I put music on too loud in the X5, there's a slight rattling on the inside of the gas tank, like right where the gas flap thing opens and closes allowing you to insert the gas pump. Anyone know how to stop this from happening?

I had the same problem. There are two plastic clips attached to the gas door or inside the gas door. I removed them and applied a little glue to keep them from rattling.

if it's the gas door, some on this board have put some electrical tape (or something like that) on the door to keep it from rattling. do a search and you'll find some posts on it. you can also lock the doors, which will lock the gas door and see if that helps. otherwise, i agree with doc, turn the music down...maybe i'm getting old, but loud music for extended periods of time is quite fatiguing.

It's not always with loud music, it can be with music that has a lower bass guitar or anything near that. Not sure if you know who Jack Johnson or Dave Matthews Band is, but both of those cause this to rattle. Live young?

Do the search. It's not a new thing. check the gas door. there are 2 plastic pieces inside there that might be causing it. others, have taped them w/ electrical tape to prevent rattling caused from the subwoofer in the rear.
