Cautionary tale on wheel change

Got my first puncture today while driving to town. No great drama until it came to removing the lockable wheel stud. As per the manual found the adapter in the on-board tool kit and inserted it in the wheel stud. However when it came to unscrewing it the wrench, which fitted all the other bolts perfectly, was too large for the adapter and as a result I couldn't remove it. As a result of all this I had to wait for hours until I could get the correct size wrench for the adapter brought to the car so the lockable wheel stud could be removed and the tyre changed.

Lesson : If you have these lockable wheel studs it may be worth checking the that the adapter you have in the tool kit can be turned by the wrench provided.

Do you have aftermarket locking nuts? as the BMW locking nuts I have fit my wrench perfectly? I also checked my dads and my cousins X5's and they have no issues with the locking system either!!
