Whistling noise
There is a whistling noise coming from under my hood. I had this checked at the dealership and the service man told me that this was normal for the X5. This noise is very annoying, so I find it hard to believe that my car is supposed to sound like that. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so what did you do??? Thanks

Mine whistles from around the door mirrors as there is a slight groove in the housing. I have seen people fit large "O rings" around the groove which stops the noise.

There have been numerous posts on this topic. Just type 'whistling' into the search window and it will bring up all the previous threads. Some people claim to have fixed the problem in various ways, others just live with it. I have had my 3.0 for three years and every winter the sound returns and goes away every spring. It is annoying, but doesn't seem to do any damage.
