It's good that the computer reconized the problem. But make sure you have it looked at. When my X showed that I had a leak, it was on the endtank of my radiator and afew of the coolant lines were leaking near the clamps. I would check the front of the engine with a flashlight and see if you can see anything thats wet. I never had a puddle under the X, but It was leaking enough to cause the message to come on. Goodluck!

Cat,
Your CPO Warr probably will not cover coolant, though it should cover
coolant reservoir and related hoses, if there is more trouble than just
"low coolant."

The Xs, and BMWs in general, appear to consume/use a little coolant
under ideal conditons; and, the plastic coolant reservoir and related parts
are not very strong. The warning could also be from a faulty sensor but...

Assume your reservoir is low: the only safe way to add, is when the motor
is stone cold. Crack the reservoir cap, gently and add until bobber is at proper mark:
top of bobber is just "out of" neck filler.

Coolant can be had at Stlr, (maybe Germain will top you for free), or any Dexcool
product at auto parts joint. Unless coolant is sold "ready mix", you
must dilute it with distilled water, at a 50:50 ratio. PIA...I keep a small
jug, mixed and ready.

Stlr should help you though, if you give 'em your good smile!

Typical dlr stuff, though: they have your car, do a new trans and other
stuff and don't take 30 secs. to check the oil or coolant levels. Carelessness
on their part, imo.

That's the coverage I'm talkin bout. Ya just get it back from the dealer and the doolant is low? That's when I return and with a smile and say " Hmmmm My coolant is low. Can't figure this out since i just got it back from a transmission job" Wonder what happened? (head scratchin now) Customer service dictates a closer inspection by the "A" team to make sure they get all 5s.

Most decent dealers will have a look, top it up and send you on your way. On a road trip to Seattle last summer it ran low. I stopped off at Bellevue BMW to buy some coolant and the guy topped it up for me gratis instead.

It's not "regular" coolant, it works with either the orange stuff or the green stuff. It's already mixed, you just dump it in. I did it, so can you .
