I recently munched (destroyed) the front flare part when reversing a trailer around a steel column potruding out. When I went to get a replacement, I found that the flares come already attached to the fender insert/mudflap.

That part (number 1 in the pic) cost me $645 (I initially thought it was gold plated) and the only difference is the flare they tell me.

Because of the expense, I'm betting they used standard inserts or re-used yours and just glued on the flares....

Your dealer is so full of it. 4.6/4.8 do not need special boards. Same running boards and yes they do take flares. See pics of mine below. Either your dealer tried to fit original 4.8 non-r/b flares with r/bs (to save money)by being creative and glueing. Or they did not use rivets. Flares with r/b's are different than without r/b. they need to buy separate set of front and back flares as in my pics below. See this thread for more details. Print these pics and show it to them.

THe original flares will work. I cut slits in the new piece that came with the boards and put the clips in just the way the came out of the factory installed
boards. Other members have done the same thing...don't buy extra pieces...they'll work the way they are unless the dealer broke the clips or lost them....thus the glue....Phil

But the dealer was supposed to install those for him for free, and started cutting corners.

That really sucks! Sounds like you got what you paid for - free running boards installed. Obviously the dealer was gonna cut corners on something like this, now I hope they make up for it. Good luck.

Pathetic that you had to tell the dealer to do their job.......
