Check this price list from the X5world Home Page. (There's lots of really helpful stuff posted there.)

Cost for that for the dealer was $64,880 + $1,640 for the navigation = $66,520. That is according the official BMWNA prices.

Reasonable offer? with the introduction of the new body style the prices have dropped dramatically. The dealers are getting a big bonus from the manufacturer to get rid of E53 inventory. I know a dealer who sold never titled 06' 4.8is for $54K. So, your dealer is not at the position to negotiate. Offer them as low as possible and let them know you are aware of all the rebates they are getting and outdated body style of E53. Tell tthem you could get E70 for the same money. Keep in mind $54K figure and that should stop you from overpaying for the car. Good luck!!!

I agree with all of the above points. There is certainly some way to go in the price.
The dealership is probably getting at least 3K in trunk money (rebate) from BMW NA to move the E53 inventory.
In addition to the points already made about the new model X5 hitting the showrooms, don't forget that even though this is an untitled car it is a MY '06, not '07, and will be valued accordingly when you go to trade it in. You should also try to negotiate the cost of one years depreciation into the price. Good luck.

I'd start off by mentioning the new body style and then ask for the 06 at around 60K. The dealer is a business man and isn't going to take a bath on the costs because, believe me, you aren't the only person in the area looking for a E53 4.8. So be reasonable, but do expect to pay less then 67K.

Definitely. My local dealer is only taking $2,000 off MSRP for the E53 4.4, so I'm pretty sure the dealer isn't going to take a bath on the deal.

Just as a reference....

I bought an E53 3.0 for my wife just recently. The sticker was 50,250 and I got the paid 44,300 not including tax title and license. It was under the invoice according to the pricing sheet which was posted in this thread earlier. Looking back I probably could have gotten a bit more off the price, but in the end of the day, I really liked the options and color combo so I did not want to pass it up (and it was a local dealer so I did not have to travel!!)

What is the sticker price on the car?

My recommendation to you is if you offer a fair price (below invoice) on the car the dealer will take it. If you are simplying buying the car for a good deal, then low ball an offer and see what the dealer responds with, but as someone noted earlier, you may have to pass up the car if you want go too low with your offer

Not sure if this helps, but I thought I would tell my story just so you have some point of reference

Thanks for the responses guys. Dealer incentive which was $4000 ended on 01/02/07 as far as I know so does that mean the dealer won't be getting any money from bmw? By the way i had them lowered the price to $65000.
