When it's Raining

Does this happen to you?

When it's raining, you put the wiper-control stalk to the first position/automatic mode. You leave your vehicle without putting the stalk back to the off/zero position. When you restart your car, the stalk is still in automatic mode, but it doesn't work.

Common question and, clearly explained in the Manual.
That feature prevents wipers from coming on in a
car wash, I believe.

Too bad they didn't have this feature on the MY '01. Ouch! Car wash got me. It's amazing how those wiper arms can get twisted out of shape.

Hmmm, my '01 has this feature I thought it was annoying but I never thought about them coming on in a car wash.

Then it might have been a fluke thing, but my wiper arm got twisted up really bad in the car wash. I just assumed it was because of the auto wipers

You took your X5 through an automatic car wash?
