Rearview Mirror Compass Acting Weird

My compass suddenly just displays "C" . Any idea what this is supposed to be?

It's for "calibrate". Read the manual for instruction on what to do. It's easy. Involves resetting, holding the button and driving slowly in a circle to calibrate the direction finder capability. All auto compasses require the same thing occasionally.

Just did mine and it's a piece of cake.

Wow! What manual are your referring to? I've looked everywhere and I have not located any sort of calibrate procedure. I'm very interested.

Follow-up: The calibration procedure was omitted in the 1st version of the 2005 owner's manual and a 2nd owner's manual was released which included the procedure. The 2006 owner's manual has it as well. Evidently even service tech's needed to learn about it as BMW issued an SIB on it.

Mine has a little button under the mirror you can push with like a pen, and then to calibrate you drive in circles from what I remember, try that!
