oh yes it did. But be very careful where you spray silicon. if its a place where air flows, it will collect dust. You also need to be careful with silicone as some of them can cause damages to rubber (read the label). try this only as the last option if you dont want to pull everything apart to fix a simple squeak. personally i would stay away from pulling the dash apart even if its under warranty for small issues like these. if its the tailgate rattle then i would use the warranty and get it fixed (its not complex).
BMW dealers in Australia (sydney) have absolutely no idea when it comes to properly diagnosing these complex machines. Once a trainee worked on my car and cracked a plastic cover (did not remove the screws in the correct order), got it fixed under warranty.
