What does "Service your Engine Soon" mean? Is this bad? Is it expensive?? I got it today while driving to the gym (pumped my workout more-frustrated) and didn't know what it meant. Some background....my car recently had the "yellow oil lamp" on, which indicates that it needs about (1 quart) of oil, at least my understanding from reading the blogs on this awesome website! I did check the level prior to putting oil in. We'll the oil I bought was Castrol "Full Synthetic" 5w-30. All of this happened yesterday, and I'm curious of any of this (adding oil) could have caused the SES light to come on? |

Okay, so I did some research here on the website, it I found out I could go to autozone to get the codes read. We'll I went and this is the code they gave me:
P0174????? Told me could be my O2 sensor or spark plugs??? Is this true? Is the car okay to drive say for another week? |

May not be the oil itself. But did you pull a sensor lead lose somewhere. What kind of filter did you use, if any needed or just added? These have all been issues before. Describe your car, year mileage, etc...

It's an 01 3.0i and I put into the car Castrol "Full Synthetic" 5w-30 Oil. That was all I did. I don't believe I had moved anything?

I have a 3.0i and I put full-synthetic 5w-30 castrol all the time.
What you need to do is go to the dealership and have them look at it. They wont charge you if they dont fix anything, but they will tell you what is wrong. At least that is what I assume? |

Ok I got your answer
search the forums for " P0174" there are several threads with this code. MAF was replaced and the code went away for one user. So maybe that should help? Again read all the threads to help you better understand |

Thanks Aimster, I think what I will do is take your original advice and go to dealer and have them check it out. If it is the MAF or O2 sensor that should be covered on the extended warranty I have. Right?
