Unhappy Did the Sport Wheel upgrade and now my ABS light is on!!!

I have a 2001 X5 with the standard 4 spoke wheel and tonight tackled the upgrade to the 2004 Sport 3 spoke wheel. Which I have to say makes a night and day difference. After I did all the work my DSC, Brake, ABS light were lit and after about 5 minutes of driving all went off except the ABS light. The horn doesn't work either! Even the lighting in the switches on the steering wheel light up....

I am almost 100% sure that I connected it all the same. Really the worst part of it was taking the old steering wheel off.

So I'm not sure if I just drive it until it stops. I did try turning the wheel lock to lock and pausing for 2 seconds and each side - no go.

Done lots of searching - maybe I'm going to have to go to the dealer to have this turned off.

Any ideas...anyone else done this mod and had same experience or not?

What size tires are you running now. I had my ABS light go on when I had the wrong tire size set-up front to back. I guess the computer was reading that the wheels were spinning at different RPM's. Just a thought...

I had the same problem... but caused by a different issue... My mechanic had to disconnect and reconnect the ABS sensor (located in front left wheel well) while replacing a bad wheel bearing.... It caused the ABS sensor to go bad and I had to replace the sensor...

I have the Sport 18's. I'm going to pull the airbag cover tonight and just double check my work. Then I'm sure I'll have a lovely experience at the stealer.

So your syaing that when you ugrade to bigger tires/rims you need to unhook certain things (DSC, ABS and Brake) connections. Sorry if it seems like a dumb question. I just got my X5 and plan on taking the stock 17's off and putting on 20" 87's.

Did you disconnect your battery when you did the install?? I did when I did mone and I did not have any problems at all. Just an idea, but maybe disconnecting the battery will reset the computer. Some more knowledgable might be able to answer that.
