Issue With Key Remote

Newbie here!! First off, even though it is not my vehicle (not yet!!), I love this thing!!!!

Wife just mentioned to me that lately she has had an issue with the key remote intermittenly not working. Has there been any issues with this or is there something I need to look for??

Not working? Or not working from a distance. Several things can interfere with the remote causing it to have a greatly reduced range. In other areas it may work from a greater distance. If its just not working at all then works after you get ouf of the car perhaps the battery is not able to hold its charge anymore? The battery in the key is recharged while its in the ignition. I have never had that happen but I assume it is possible.

ktulu - she has stated that it does not work period, to where she has to manually unlock the door with the key (man she has gotten spoiled ). But again, this is happening intermittenly, but more frequently.

We have not had the X for long, so I wasn't sure if there was some info on this. I have been a member at F150online.com for years and have received tons of great information from that site, so as soon as we got the X5, I made sure to find a forum as good as that one.

Do you have both original keys? I wonder if they both have a problem at the same time. That would be one way to determine if it was a battery failure. Never been on f150online but you definitely found a great forum here. I am sure someone else with more experience with remote problems will chime in.

Welcome to the board and congrats on your new ride. Post some pics before and after your mods!

Cheers

"Big Dawg"...take your key to the dealer and have them to reprogram it. As stated above, the key is charged when it's in the ignition. Also have them add any convience features you and the wife need.........Phil

You can reprogram the keys yourself. Just read the How-To article on x5world.
