Found one! Deal or No Deal?!?!?!?

My wife found this one locally...

2003 3.0i Topaz Blue Metallic / Black Dakota Leather
65,000 miles
Steptronic
Premium
Sport
Cold Weather
Rear Climate
Xenons

BMW DCS says that there are no major warranty items (rear latch, wiper inserts, regular maintenance, bulbs, etc)

CARFAX says it is a clean, one owner car

I saw it and it has no paint work, but there is a large scratch on the passenger rear door and there is a scrape mark on the right corner of the rear bumper. The right taillamp is cracked and the 2 rear tires are worn on the inside (enough to replace, IMHO).

We have agreed upon $23,500 as long as it doesn't have any major issues when I get a pre-purchase inspection completed at the dealer. The Service Engine Soon light is on, but I'm pretty sure it's becasue of the open recall for the ignition coils.

The Black Book says that a car like this will sell between $22,675 and $24,129 at auction. Even at the low end, once you factor in the auction fees and transportation, you end up at the same price.

NO DEAL !!!!

I am trading in my 2003 3.0i with 41,000 miles. It is in good condition, and has all the options above except xenon and sport. I am getting approx 23,550.

With 65,000 miles, I think you should be aiming for $20,500- 21,000; my opinion.
Good Luck!

So there's some sort of strong demand in the Wash. DC area?

I got an 01 with similar package and more, plus less miles (45k) for $21600 -- $19,900 at auction. I too think you can do better.

definitely EBAY! There is so much supply and competition that you can get much better deal and so many to choose from.

E61Silver is an unknown quantity at this point
How about leasing a new X3?

The cost of monthly ownership will be about the same.

Well, we got it for $23,350. It's sweet. My 4YO son says to me that he doesn't want to ride in my old car anymore LOL! Shoot, does he know it has 200,470 miles?

I put it up on the lift and it checks out very clean - it's never been in so much as a fender bender or even bottomed out on anything. The tires on it are original!! The date stamp says that they were manufactured in '03.

How long do tires and brakes typically last on these cars (let's say genltly driven on a regular basis)?

Looking forward to doing maintenance and detailing this weekend.

Thanks for your suggestions and I look forward to many years and miles of smiles behind another Bayerische Motoren Werke!
