Are there any inherent problems that plague the 2004 X5 4.4’s

Are there any inherent problems that plague the 2004 X5 4.4’s after the 50,000 mile mark?

The first issue will be that it's a 4.4is....no such X no seriously, what are you asking about specifically.......Phil

Right. Whatever. I dont drive the thing its my wife's. Anyway. It is nearing 50K and I knwo the extended maintenance is a no brainer. What about the extended mechanical warranty? Worthwhile?

It's a BMW = Buy Maintenance Warranty. If it only has 50k, consider a inspection 2 and it should be fine....Of course there are the CV Boots, final stage resistors, window regs and etc to think about. If you have an opportunity to purchace a warranty, make sure it's from a good company and go for it...........Phil

In his defense, he did says 4.4's rather than 4.4is. I'm with the rest of everyone though, get the coverage, she's driven 50,000, what makes you think she's not gonna do another 50k?

IMO, never own a BMW not under warranty.

I recommend getting the extended warranty, and if desired, the extended maintenace contract. They are two SEPERATE things. There aren't any major guarenteed issues. The automatic transmissions in all BMWs tend to go south past 100k, and apparently CV joints are something to look over in X5s.
