BMW extended warranty for X5. Options?

I am looking to extend the factory warranty of a 2004 4.8is, it is getting close to 50K miles. I will be the THIRD owner so some tell me I cannot get the 'original owner protection plan' which is basically the CPO warranty of 2 more years and 100k miles. At this point, what are my options? I want to get a BMW extended warranty only and not anything aftermarket. Where can I get this? BMW of Austin quoted me $4200 for the ORIGINAL OWNER PROTECTION PLAN which they say I am not eligible for. Any advice? Prices would be great too. MaconBMW is known to sell them at a good price, will check into that. Cheers!

:xoutpost:

if you didn't buy the car under CPO...then try going with an aftermarket warranty

Since you aren't the original owner, your only option is something aftermaret. Warranty Direct would be my suggestion.

I do not want anything aftermarket, hassles with claims and they do not cover as much. No chance of getting a BMW warranty?

I have a Warranty Direct warranty. Never had a problem. They cover more. 2yr/50k miles is a waste unless you put on a lot of miles. There's no way you're getting the BMW warranty.

I, too, tried getting an extended BMW warranty for my 2001 X5. No luck, unless you can track down the original owner and have him buy it for you from BMW.

would that work? he wouldn't be on your title...

sell it back to him would make him the first and third owner...i wonder if it would still apply because he is the original owner...

That's what I was told by my dealer - only the original owner can buy the extended warranty - how that would actually work, I did not pursue as I, too, am a 3rd owner.

needless to say, I bought the extended warrantees for my 2006 right away
