Any surfers here? What do you do with your key?

I've always surfed with my key around my neck after I lost one from the leash key pocket.

Problem is I'm on a road trip 500 miles from home and forgot my valet key and emergency plastic key, only the main key fob which I obviously can't take in the water.

I usually don't like the idea of hiding your keys under the vehicle like a lot of other surfers, but I have no choice. Anyone have suggestions?
