Is it a creamy white semi-solid goop, collecting under the oil filler cap?

If so, it is from moisture/condensation in the engine, as a result of lots of short trips that don't give the engine time to get hot enough and burn off the moisture. Best bet is to get the engine right up to temperature, and hold it there (on a long drive). Then drain and replace the oil. You may need to do it more than once. The fix is fewer short trips, particularly when it is cold out. The breather can affect it, but unless you give the engine a chance to get hot and burn the moisture off, it will keep happening.

no, furtunatly it's not a head gasket leak, antifreeze always at the same level. But there is more white stuff if the car have been idleing a lot. I hope things will not get worse, because I'm going to Russia with my x5, over there is real f....g cold!!! Personaly, I think BMW engine oil is just castrol with BMW sticker on it...

Definitely good news that your antifreeze always at the same level. This would also mean that your oil dipstick is not creammy either, right?

Don't mean to get off subject, but how much is it costing you to ship your truck to Russia? I have always wanted to ship my 540 over to Germany for vacation. Would love to drive it on the Autobahn.
